In my cupboard is a whole bunch of pint canning jars filled with seasonings for all kinds of things. You have already seen my season salt and dry onion soup mix. Now I’m sharing my taco seasoning. It’s super easy and you use less than store bought because there are no fillers in it.
Homemade taco seasoning of course is less expensive for several reasons. Buying spices in bulk is less expensive, you aren’t paying for fillers and preservatives, and you use less. It is also better for you because you aren’t eating fillers and preservatives. And best of all, it tastes fresher.
1/2 cup chili powder
1/4 cup onion powder
2 Tbsp ground cumin
1 Tbsp garlic powder
1 Tbsp paprika
1 Tbsp salt
Combine all ingredients in a jar and shake. 2 Tbsp of mix is equivalent to 1 pkg.
To use, add 2 Tbsp of seasoning and 1/4 cup water to 1 lb of meat.
This is great for our Cornbread Taco Casserole or any of your recipes that call for taco seasoning.
