Aden and Anais Knock Off

aden-anais When we were preparing to have Miss Magoo join our family, I came across some adorable aden-anais-knockoffThe awesome thing about sewing a blanket like this is that it's super easy. I washed and dried the fabric first. Then folded the fabric on the bias to make a square and cut it. Finally, just a quick skinny hem along all 4 edges, and it was finished!aden-anais2

  2. What a great idea! These were my favorite blankets especially in the summer months. Thanks for sharing over at Mommy on Demand, hope you come back tomorrow and link up!

    1. You definitely could- they're so easy! And the plus side it, you'd be getting some practice on sewing if you want to go on and try harder stuff, but if not you can still whip out some great baby shower gifts for cheap.

  3. This is a great idea. We have a couple of the Aden & Anais blankets but this would make a great baby shower gift for someone on a budget with a sewing machine. Pinning this for future reference.

  4. I think once I breakdown and start using my sewing machine (I'm currently afraid of it), I will try a blanket first...maybe...though then I'd have to sew those edges really straight...either way, I love the blanket! The fabric you picked out really is pretty! πŸ™‚

    1. I used to be afraid of my sewing machine too. Then I decided to just start cutting up clothes we were planning to get rid of and practice sewing on them, so at least I wasn't wasting money. But it turns out it's not that hard! If your sewing machine has different stitch settings, you could always put it on a stitch that wouldn't be as obvious if the line wasn't straight.

  5. Great post! The 3-pack of A&A swaddles was on my must-have list for baby #2, and now that #3 is a girl I really want non-blue swaddle blankets but I'm having a hard time justifying the cost. This would be a very good alternative! Pinning now.

    1. Thanks for pinning! They are seriously the greatest swaddle blankets, but I'm really happy with how my knock off turned out, for the much lower price and very short amount of time!
