I’ll be the first person to tell you that cleaning isn’t my strong suit. I’ve never been blessed with the desire to clean. However, it’s not something anyone can get away with just not doing because they don’t like it, so I’ve taken several steps to try to make cleaning easier and more fun. I just want to be able to get my cleaning over with quickly so I can spend time with my family.
I’ve found that figuring out what to clean when is half the battle for me. Because I’m not cleaning-minded, I don’t necessarily notice the things that need to be cleaned. To get past this, I’ve created a cleaning list for myself.
I’ve set up my cleaning list based on my life. Our garbage gets picked up on Fridays, so I clean out the fridge and empty all the garbages in the house on Thursday. I have some friends that come over on Wednesdays, so I vacuum before they come.
If you have a hard time figuring out where to start with cleaning, this list is for you! Print it out (the pdf doesn’t have a watermark, so don’t worry!), and either laminate it or slip it in a page protector, and then cross off each item as you do it.
Another thing I’ve done to make cleaning easier is to create a cleaning caddy. My cleaning caddy contains the cleaning supplies for my whole house, making it easy to move all the cleaning supplies around the house for whatever task is at hand.
When I decided to create a cleaning caddy, I headed to my local Kroger Banner Store, Fred Meyer. I knew I would be able to pick up all my cleaning and organizational supplies in one trip to save me even more time!
By organizing my cleaning supplies in a caddy, I can make cleaning quick. I turn the music up high and rock out while I get my cleaning done for each day. I’ve found that by having the supplies organized in this way, I’m not wasting my time searching for supplies. I carry the caddy from one bathroom to the other or from the kitchen to the living room, and all my supplies are right there. I love it!
By using both the printable and the cleaning caddy, I’m able to get my cleaning done in a jiff, so I can hang out with my family. We enjoy hiking, biking, camping, skiing, and basically just anything outdoors!
So what supplies do you need in your cleaning caddy? Here are the ones I keep in mine:
Cleaning Caddy
- Toilet bowl cleaner
- General bathroom cleaner
- Windex® Original Glass Cleaner & jersey rag for cleaning mirrors and windows
- Cleaning sponge or rag for cleaning counters and tub
- Rubber gloves
- Microfiber cloths
- Sponge
- Dusting Solution
- Pumice stone
Optional items to add:
- Paper towels to clean anything nasty
- Steel wool (if you have a stainless steel sink, you may want this)
Every time I think about Windex® the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding comes to mind! If you haven’t seen it before, you must watch it to understand why it conjures up images of Windex® Original Glass Cleaner. It’s such a hilarious movie, with eccentric characters, but what I really love is how it places such a value on family, and spending time together with our families.
While Windex® may not be usable for all of the dad’s claims, it really does have a lot of great uses. It’s the only product that gets a streak free clean on my windows every time. I use Windex® to clean the faucet of my sink to make it shine, to wipe out the kitchen sink and make it sparkle, and to make my mirrors beautiful! You can follow the Windex® facebook page or twitter feed to get more fabulous tips for cleaning.
I am looking forward to seeing My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 that will be in theaters on March 25th. I’ve been stalking their facebook page in my excitement! I can’t wait to see how things play out, and get some more deep belly laughs from the Windex® humor, and the fun family interactions.

I am actually thinking about hiring someone to come in and do my spring cleaning for me this year. I just have no motivation.
I wish I could afford that! But I’ve actually been surprised by how much I can do when I just set aside 15-30 minutes each day!
I hate cleaning, but I have to do it. Windex is a trusted brand. I loved that movie and I’m looking forward to see the new one.
I agree– Windex is definitely a trusted brand. I hope you enjoy the movie. I’m so excited for it!
My parents have something like this and use it all the time! I love your printables to go with it. That is a great way to clean a little each day and not all at once!
Thanks! It’s definitely easier to do a little each day rather than let the dirt pile up.
I need to make myself a cleaning caddy and schedule to break it up through out the week. Right now it’s just randomness and it works sometimes, but not always.
That’s how I was before making this schedule. If this one works for you, just print it out, and get started 🙂 I hope it helps!
I love the cleaning caddy. We have one but it don’t fully utilize it. I also need to get a cleaning schedule down so that the tasks don’t pile up.
The cleaning caddy and schedule have made it so much easier to keep things clean!
Having it all handy cuts down on cleaning time. Your caddy is an easy way to keep all your supplies nearby.
It definitely is! No more wasting time searching for cleaning products– just grab it and get to work!
I love the printables, now I am planning to clean our house and all the rooms.
Good luck! I hope the printable works for you!
I love this, and love a clean home and spend a long time getting it that way. Thanks for these tips.
I was spending hours cleaning, but realized that if I stay on top of it, it’s not nearly as daunting of a task.
I need a cleaning caddy for my house. I will have to get the supplies i need to make one.
Definitely do! It’s also great, since mine fits under our sink and makes it so that normally messy space is well organized.
I have a cleaning caddy too and I love it. Never thought of creating a list though. Thanks for sharing yours.
You’re welcome!
I saw the movie last night and this guy found the funniest way to use Windex. Nothing like usual. I hate cleaning but Windex is a necessary piece of equipment.
So true! I’ve tried cheap brands of window cleaners before, and nothing works as well as Windex. I can’t wait to see the movie!
I love the idea of this caddy for storing cleaning products! It would certainly keep things at arms reach and the printables are amazing!
The caddy has been so helpful, and the printables make my life so much better!
I need a cleaning chart for my house! Maybe then I would actually get stuff done! HA!
Print it out, and do a little each day. You’ll be amazed how much easier it makes it!
Ughhh cleaning is definitely the worst!!!!!! It has to be done though and we do use a lot of windex in our house!
Unfortunately you’re right, it does have to be done!
I just hired a cleaning lady and it was the best investment I’ve ever made! I’m actually very good at keeping up with the cleaning so she does what I don’t usually get to, like scrubbing down the bathrooms and washing the floors.
A cleaning lady would definitely be nice. But I have been amazed how much I can get done of the cleaning just by staying on top of it with this printable!
great tips. i hate cleaning, especially without a proper cleaning kit, tough job
So true.
Just perfect! I’m in the process of preparing everything I need for my spring cleaning and been trying to schedule it too like your printable (but I like yours better! lol). Thank you so much for all of these tips, very helpful.
So glad to help! Good luck on the spring cleaning!
I love your printable cleaning chart! I love how organized it is and I think it would help keep me on track to do a little bit every day.
I’m so glad you like it! I’ve been amazed by how keeping on top of it and doing a little each day really helps keep the mess down!
We are a big fan of windex. We uses it almost everyday in the kitchen.
It’s fabulous! I tried once (in my broke college kid days) to use a generic window cleaner, and it was a waste of money. Never again– it’s Windex all the way!
Looks like a kit for my kids 🙂 My kids clean all the windows for me, and then I re clean them when they aren’t looking hehe
Haha. My kids love to do dishes and I often redo them as well! They want to put them away, and I say, “No, just leave them on the towel to dry some more!” haha
This year we are all doing it as a family. Previous years I was usually the one stuck to do it all. LOL Going to check out my dollar store for some of these supplies to make a cleaning caddy.
Working together as a family is the best! It makes us moms feel less resentful, and it’s really teaching everyone great life skills!
I love the cleaning caddy. We have one but don’t really use it! Thank you for the great tips!
A cleaning caddy was a must at our old house, because it was 3 levels. In a smaller home, it may not be as necessary, but even if it’s just holding all the supplies that seems to help!
I actually JUST got a caddy to hold my cleaning products. I need to use those printables to make it easier! #client
The printables have helped me so much! A little every day, and the house stays clean (well, as clean as it can stay with 3 little ones!).
