Cocoa Mint Foot Butter

Cocoa Mint Foot Butter is a luxurious butter to help soften your skin and invigorate tired feet. The cocoa butter and peppermint essential oil smell amazing together.

Summer is on it’s way and for some of you it is already summer like weather. Here in Idaho we are starting to break out the sandals and flip flops.  We are beginning to work in the yard and the garden.  Our feet quickly start to look terrible. I can’t afford to get pedicures as often as I’d like to so I decided to make my own foot butter.

I wanted this butter to feel and smell amazing. I also wanted it be great for tired feet.  After working in the kitchen, yard or garden; my feet are TIRED and usually hot.  I added peppermint. As I thought about what ingredients I wanted to use, I knew I wanted peppermint and what smells better with peppermint than chocolate.  Cocoa butter has an amazing chocolate scent. So of course that had to be used.  Thus we have Cocoa Mint Foot Butter.

Cocoa butter is very hard when solid.  You can melt it a few ways. You can melt it in a double boiler.  I had left my double boiler at a friends so I had to come up with another way. I cut it into pieces that would fit into a jar. Put a lid on very tight and filled the sink with hot water. I put the jar in the water and let it melt. It took a little bit, but you could also put it in a pot with hot water.

My first attempt at making this I melted the coconut oil also but I had to wait for it to solidify.  So I wouldn’t melt the coconut oil. The sweet almond oil will help the butter not be too hard once the cocoa butter solidifies again.

Things you will need:

Coconut oil (I prefer refined because it doesn’t have the coconut scent, but couldn’t find any on Amazon. I buy mine at the local grocery store or health foods store.)

Cocoa butter

Sweet Almond Oil

Peppermint Essential Oil (I used Young Living because of their Seed to Seal Promise)

Small Jar or container.
And these tiny wooden spoons would be great for scooping the butter out of the jar.

The son of a friend of mine LOVES lotion.  He calls it wotion.  He has wotion time every day, and he tends to overdo it with the wotion.  When asking friend what to name this foot butter, my friend suggested “Wotion Time.” So if Cocoa Mint Foot Butter is too much of a mouthful for you, just call this Wotion Time.
