Coffee Coconut Oil Brown Sugar Scrub
Make a coffee scrub that's so natural, you could eat it! Great for invigorating and firming the skin, while exfoliating and hydrating!

I love coffee. I love the taste of it, but I also love the smell of it. And I love that coffee is great for your skin. Coffee invigorates the skin, and it's supposed to help firm the skin (and possibly even get rid of cellulite!). And since I drink far too much coffee, I have a lot of coffee grounds that I love to try and re-purpose.
As I was thinking about what I wanted to include in my coffee scrub, I knew I wanted to add coconut oil for it's hydrating abilities. Here in Idaho, my skin tends to get so dry, since we rarely have any humidity.
I also added brown sugar, for its exfoliating abilities, and because sugars allow for better penetration of the oils.
This coffee scrub turns out smelling like coconut oil with a hint of coffee.
What you need:
- ½ cup coconut oil
- 1 cup coffee grounds (it's better if they're a bit dry, so if you're using used grounds, just let them sit for a day or so, so they aren't too moist-- this will help you not end up with moldy scrub)
- 1 cup brown sugar
The texture of this can turn out really differently depending on how you make it. If you like a more oily scrub, you will want to melt the coconut oil over low heat, then remove from heat and add the coffee grounds and brown sugar.
If you like a firmer, more gritty scrub, cut the coconut oil into the coffee grounds and brown sugar with a pastry cutter or two forks.
After mixing the ingredients together, put them into jars.

What do you love most about coffee? And how do you enjoy taking your coffee? I drink an Americano with cream!

I love this scrub. It is one of my favorites. Make it all the time.
I just made this scrub and I'm excited to use it later today. I'm curious how long will it keep if the grounds are recycled but dry and the mixture is stored in the fridge?
Stephanie, I've found that mine will just start to lose smell, but doesn't actually go rancid. It has stayed good for at least 6 months, for me.
Does your oil separate on top after a day or two.
Karen, I haven't had issues with the oil separating at all.
