I am still on a mission to learn to make all my food myself. I don’t always do too well at this especially while moving. But we do try to eat at home 5 nights (if not more) a week. And I try to use all clean ingredients (no preservatives, no artificial sweeteners, etc). But I still use salad dressings that are full of preservatives. I have two favorite dressings – poppyseed dressing & Vidalia onion dressing. The Vidalia onion dressing I use is all natural. So I’m going to not worry about it. But the poppyseed dressing isn’t and Since I’m out of poppyseed dressing, I attempted to make it.
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 8 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp dry mustard
- 1/2 tbsp onion grated
- 1/2 cup canola oil
- 1/2 tbsp poppyseeds
- In a 12 or 16 oz canning jar, mix all ingredients. Put the lid on and shake hard for about a minute. You want all the mayo to mix in. After it's mixed, use.
If you don't like mayo, you can leave it out. It just won't be creamy.
