This blog post is mostly aimed towards bloggers, but if you’ve ever wanted to run a giveaway for your business or a charity, it will be helpful to you, too! It’s all about making a clickable link on Rafflecopter.
If you’ve ever made a giveaway on Rafflecopter, you’ll know that there are several free options, but a lot of extra options for giveaway entries require a paid account. When it comes to not paying, you can “invent your own” option, but then the entry isn’t clickable.
So what does it mean if the entry isn’t clickable?
It simply means that the person entering your giveaway will have to copy and paste in order to enter. Personally, I think this is a bad idea (especially in a large giveaway), because most people don’t want to spend a lot of time entering a giveaway, and each copy and paste requires extra time.
So how can you make an entry clickable without paying?
It’s actually really simple! You can code it into the entry! If you’re not super tech-savvy, the idea of coding might seem scary to you. Trust me, I totally understand that. Out of the 3 of us, I’m definitely the least techy. But even I was able to figure this out, it’s that easy.
First, figure out what you want the entry to be. Do you want new followers on Instagram? Or followers on Pinterest? Or maybe Bloglovin? I’m going to give you an example using my blog’s name, and a Pinterest follow. So just change it to your blog’s name, and whichever follow you’re wanting.
Step #1
Click on “Invent Your Own” under “People can enter by….” and change the name from “Invent Your Own” to “Follow me on Pinterest”.
Step #2
Now here comes the fun coding part. Like I promised before, making a clickable link in Rafflecopter is easy!
In the spot that says, “Briefly describe what entrants should do” we’re going to tell them to follow us on Pinterest, and code it in so they can click it.
So here’s the code: Follow [Coffee With Us 3](http://www.pinterest.com/coffeewithus3/)
You’re just going to change out your blog or business’s name for Coffee With Us 3, and then change out your Pinterest URL for ours. Easy peasy!
Whatever you put inside the [ ] is what words Rafflecopter will make clickable. And whatever you put inside the ( ) is where Rafflecopter will link to.
Here’s how it’s going to look to the people entering. Where it says “Coffee With Us 3” in blue, they can click and it takes them to our Pinterest page. Much better than copying and pasting, right?
I add a spot asking them to verify the URL of the account they followed us with, just so that I can check entries– it’s up to you whether or not that’s important.
I hope learning how to make a clickable link on Rafflecopter helps you make the most out of your giveaways, without having to spend any money!
