Making your own Geometric Cinnamon Stick Ornament is fun, easy, and smells great!
One of my favorite Christmas traditions with my kids is making ornaments. We’ve made really simple ones out of craft sticks when the kids were little. We’ve made Keepsake Ornaments from clay, and others that I’ve never shared on the blog. But one of my favorites was the geometric cinnamon stick ornaments that we made last year.
We didn’t make them early enough for me to blog them last year, so I decided that now’s the time to share them with you! My favorite things about these geometric cinnamon stick ornaments is that they’re so simple and minimalist, they were easy for the kids to make, and they smell great!
There’s something about the smell of cinnamon that is so Christmasy to me. Maybe it’s all the baking and spiced cider, but cinnamon is just Christmas to me.

- Cinnamon Sticks (depending on how big you want yours, you can use either 2 3/4 inch sticks which is what I used, 4 inch sticks, or make massive ones with 6 inch sticks, which could be rally cool!)
- Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
- Ribbon
- Coffee cup
Make a square with 4 cinnamon sticks. Using hot glue, glue each corner.
Going from opposite corners of the square, put two more glue sticks to make a triangle. They will be tilted in order to touch each other.
Do the same for the other corners. You should now have a pyramid shape.
This next part can be awkward, but I found that it can help if you use a coffee cup. Turn the pyramid upside-down and set it inside a coffee cup that’s slightly smaller than the base of the pyramid. Now you can work on it without having to hold onto it.
Working from the corners of the original square, make another pyramid shape.
Hang with ribbon from a tree, or make several and string them together for garland.
