My family took a trip recently to Salt Lake City, Utah, along with my parents, my sister, and her family. While we were there, we wanted to visit the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium. They were kind enough to give me tickets so that I could share our experience with you!
Initially, I was planning to write a post of several fun things to do in Salt Lake City (and that will be coming soon!), but once we visited the Living Planet Aquarium, I realized that it really required a post all of its own. There was so much to see and do at the aquarium, that I really just wanted to share more about it with our fabulous readers!
The Loveland Living Planet Aquarium is huge! It looks big from the outside, but once you go in it’s so much larger than you would imagine. It is set up with multiple areas representing Antarctica, Asia, South America, Utah, the deep sea, the ocean, and more. Each area is packed with things to learn, look at, and even touch!
There is a 40 foot shark tunnel that we really enjoyed. The sharks swim around constantly, and even go up and over the tunnel, so you feel like you’re in the water with them. The shark tunnel also has fish and even giant sea turtles.
The Loveland Living Planet Aquarium featured all of the aquatic items you would expect– sharks, fish, turtles, and more– but it also includes many other cool things! There were otters, penguins, ducks, a leopard, toucans, frogs, and more.
Little Man is a huge fan of leopards, so he insisted that I take a picture of the leopard. He was also excited to receive his ticket to the aquarium, as it had a picture of the leopard on it.
I loved that there was so much to learn! There were interactive learning exhibits, along with things to read everywhere you looked.
The penguins were adorable. There were several with babies, or sitting on eggs. We even got to see one funny penguin who kept stealing rocks from the neighbor penguin. He went back and forth the entire time, taking them back to his lady-penguin!
The South America exhibit included a fun rope walk that Little Man had to go across at least 5 times, until we told him he had to stop.
Overall, we had a wonderful time at the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium. It was definitely the highlight of our trip to Salt Lake City, and it’s a place I would take the kids again.
You could easily spend the entire day there, as there is so much to see and do, and so much to learn. Plus a free 4D movie is included with your pass! So bring a lunch (or take advantage of the food available for purchase) and spend the day there.

The aquatic world definitely has a lot of interesting creatures to explore. I like that this aquarium also had other wild creatures to enjoy, like the penguins and leopards. Leopards are so beautiful!

It's truly amazing the variety of aquatic life! That in itself could have taken our whole day, but watching the penguins was a blast!
