Homemade marshmallow fondant uses just 3 ingredients, and only takes about 10 minutes to make. It’s easy and delicious!
If the only fondant you’ve had is from the store, you’re going to be so surprised by how much tastier homemade marshmallow fondant is.
Tips for making the best Marshmallow Fondant:
Make sure your marshmallows are fresh.
Fresh marshmallows get gooey when you microwave them. Old, stale marshmallows get kind of crunchy instead of gooey, which will make it very difficult to make nice, smooth fondant.
Be prepared to use your hands.
You’ll need to use your hands in order to knead in the powdered sugar. This is very much a hands on recipe, so wash your hands and get ready to dig in!
Can I use Fondant immediately after making it?
Definitely! In fact, it’s best to use fondant right away. If you need to make marshmallow fondant for a later use, make sure it’s air-tight so it doesn’t crusty. I recommend wrapping it in plastic wrap, and then placing it in a zippered plastic bag.
How do I use fondant?
Fondant can be used to completely cover a cake, or it can be used to cut out elements to decorate a cake. Some of our recipes that use fondant are:
We used fondant to make the ears and horn on this adorable Unicorn Birthday Cake.
We used a tiny bit of fondant to make horns for these Unicorn Cups.
We used fondant to make horseshoes and a rope to decorate this Easy Horse Cake.
