Red White And Blue Marshmallows

Red White and Blue Marshmallows are so festive and a great addition to any patriotic celebration. Along with being fun they are delicious. Don’t be intimidated by making marshmallows– it’s so easy!

These Red White and Blue Marshmallows are so much fun!  They’re perfect for the 4th of July, an Olympics party, or any time you want to get patriotic!

Plus they’re a real crowd pleaser.  People are so impressed by how complicated they look, and you can keep the secret that they’re actually a very easy recipe!

I have had so much fun experimenting with marshmallows. These Red White and Blue Marshmallows took a couple tries to get right. The first try was splitting one batch into 3 and dying 2 of them. The marshmallows set up too quickly for this to work.

So I was “forced” to make 3 batches. Really I’m not going to argue with more marshmallows. Three batches worked the best. It gives you time to get it dyed and into the pan.

A couple things I learned from this experiment:

When you are smoothing out the top, don’t spray plastic wrap to press it down. The spray will make it difficult for the layers to adhere together. Do you your best to smooth it out and it’s ok if it’s not flat. No one will be able to tell when they’re finished.

Add the dye before the 12 minutes is up. Add a little at a time until you get the color you are wanting.

One thing we have found with homemade marshmallows is that they don’t catch on fire when roasting them. I’m not why that is, but I love it. You can get nice toasted marshmallows without them being charred.

We love our homemade marshmallows!  If you’re looking for more homemade marshmallow varieties, we’ve got recipes for plain marshmallows, s’mores marshmallows, hot fudge marshmallows, mocha marshmallows, confetti marshmallows, and more!
