Sourdough Croutons

Sourdough Croutons are delicious morsels of goodness. It is a great way to use leftover sourdough. You can use them to top a salad or soup.

In 2020, we learned how to do so many things. Grow our own food.  Work from home, order groceries online, cook and many people learned how to make sourdough.

And a lot of people had more sourdough bread than they knew what to do with. Are you still trying to figure out what to do with your sourdough? Sourdough croutons are a great, easy way to use them.

What are croutons made of?

Homemade croutons are as simple as bread, butter or oil, and seasoning. There are so many options for the bread you use, and so many options for the seasoning you use. 

How long do homemade croutons last?

Homemade croutons are best on the day they are made. However they will last for a week. They don’t need to be refrigerated. 

Sourdough Croutons

Sourdough Croutons
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Additional Time 5 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes


  • Sourdough bread
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 3 Tbsp parsley
  • 1 Tbsp season salt
  • 2 tsp garlic powder


  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Cut sourdough bread into 1" cubes.
  3. Place cubes in a large bowl and drizzle with butter.
  4. Sprinkle with spices and toss.
  5. Spread on crouton cubes on a sheet pan.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes, stirring about halfway through.
  7. Remove from oven when golden brown.
  8. Let cool for about 5 minutes.
  9. Enjoy


You may need to adjust the amount of butter and spices according to how much sourdough you are using.
