Stew Meat Chili in the Instant Pot

Stew Meat Chili is a great meal on a cold day. It is hearty like a stew but in a chili. Using the instant pot makes this pretty quick dinner.

Stew meat is one of those meats that needs to be cooked a while to get it tender enough to eat. However, pressure cooking does that for us quickly. Aren’t we all thankful pressure cooking has become so easy.

How do you make stew meat tender?

Cooking stew meat low and slow like in a slow cooker will tenderize stew meat. You can also cook it in a dutch oven in the oven. My favorite way is to cook it in the instant pot. It is much faster.

Stew meat is pretty versatile. You can use it lots of different dishes. Some ideas are Beef & Broccoli, Tacos, Stroganoff, and Chile Colorado Burritos.

If you are wanting this amazing chili but you don’t have an instant pot. You can make it with ground beef and you will find that recipe as The Hardworking Husband’s Chili.

I see 1-lb stew meat listed in the ingredients but the instructions lists ground meat to be browned with no mention of stew meat. Is the stew meat and ground meat the same in this recipe, or are there three different meats to include the Italian sausage? Thanks

Thank you for pointing this out. I have corrected it in the recipe. It should say stew meat instead of ground beef.

I don't usually rate recipes, but I had to rate this one, and I must say it turned out absolutely amazing! Now one change I did make was rather than using beer, I used apple cider. It worked very well with the different flavors. I will definitely make this again! Thank you again for the recipe!

I found that recipes for stewed meat need to cook longer .The sausage and ground meat needs to cook shorter. do I cook the stewed meat as one recipe states put it into a bowl and put it to the side. Then cook The ground beef and ground sausage together. . Do I use the button that says beans and chili and use that for both, join them together. Can you please help me out. Doug

You absolutely can use the beans and chili button for both. I have gotten to wear I just use the pressure cook button and just program it for the length of time I need.
