Strawberry Dump Cake

It doesn’t get easier than this Strawberry Dump Cake!  Have a delicious dessert ready with just 5 minutes of hands-on time, and 40 minutes of baking.

Why is it called a Dump Cake?

This 3 ingredient strawberry dump cake recipe is made quickly by using pie filling and a cake mix. The name refers to the fact that you just dump in the pie filling, dump in the cake mix, and pour on the melted butter, with no mixing involved. Just dump it, bake eat, and devour it!

Is a dump cake the same as a cobbler?

While it is a similar dessert to a cobbler, dump cake turns out quite differently.  Cobblers typically have a biscuit-like topping, while a dump cake uses a cake mix.  Cobblers often use fresh or canned fruit, while dump cakes use pie filling. These differences causes a dump cake to be much sweeter than a cobbler.

What is the biggest mistake to avoid when making a dump cake?

If you’ve done much cooking or baking, it can be easy to mess up a dump cake.  While it seems counterintuitive, the easiest way to mess up this strawberry dump cake is to mix it.  Do not mix the cake.  Just dump it and bake it!

Is dump cake supposed to be refrigerated?

Because of the fruit in this strawberry dump cake, you’ll want to refrigerate leftovers– if you have any leftovers.  Otherwise you’ll likely end up with the berries molding, ruining the rest of your dessert.
