I’m moving! My family is moving back to Idaho. I’m very excited to be moving back home and to be so close to my mother, sister, brother-in-law and Jamie! I’m also very excited for all God has in store for us up there.
However, I’m also very sad to be leaving Texas. I’ve lived in Texas since 2001 and while I haven’t always loved everything about Texas (like fire ants! and humidity!), there are many, many things I love about Texas and our home here.
Things I Love about Texas {in no particular order}
- Breakfast Tacos
- The Texas Rangers – I’ve always been a baseball fan but the Rangers have quickly become my favorite.
- Cajun Food
- Wayland Baptist University – The original reason I came to Texas and quite possibly the best university in the world. And no I’m not biased.
- San Antonio – I’ve loved all my trips to here. Including my 9th anniversary trip.
- Circle H BBQ – If you are ever traveling through east Texas on Hwy 69, stop and eat here. It’s the best BBQ I’ve ever had.
- My house – We bought our first house about 3 years ago. And we loved our little home in the country! So many great memories here.
- Tex-Mex
- Our Chickens – Our pets. We raised them up from chicks and loved them and enjoyed the fresh eggs so much.
- Our Church – our church here is full of the best people in the world. They are like family to us and grandparents to our children and we will miss them all dearly.
- Our Family – We love all of my husband’s side of the family and we love our loud, fun, and crazy get togethers. I know we will miss them all so much! And my kids will miss their Grandma and Pop and Mapal and Papal and the rest of the family like crazy!
Next time you hear from me, I’ll be in Idaho. Hopefully somewhat sane after moving with four kids!
What are some of the things you love about your state? I’ve love to hear them! Leave me a comment!

Can you not take the chickens with you? Granted, it does get cold in Idaho... I've heard there are really only two types of people who live in Texas...those who absolutely love it, and those who absolutely hate it. I have yet to meet anyone that just hated living there. My parents lived there for a while and they really liked it. Anywho...I'm glad that you're glad to be moving back to Idaho...best of luck with the move!!!! :) : ) :)

Thanks Brooke. We actually gave our chickens away to a neighbor before we put the house on the market, so we could clean up the yard a bit. We also don't have a permanent house here yet.... so moving the chicken just didn't work out but we may get them again. I did love living in Texas just not the summer heat and humidity. Never got used to it!

So happy for you to be moving back to your home state. I can so identify - I'm a Native Texan, and can't wait to leave NJ and move back home! I love all those things about Texas myself, and loved seeing you acknowledge them. Good luck on your move, and God Bless!

Thanks Deb! There is just something about where you grew up. Even if you love other places, home is always special.
