  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups flour (you can use all purpose or wheat, whichever you like better)
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1 stick of butter, melted
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/3-1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Toppings of your choice

  1. Heat up your waffle iron.
  2. In a large bowl, beat your eggs with a whisk until fluffy.
  3. Mix in remaining ingredients, except chocolate chips and toppings.
  4. Pour 1/2 to 2/3 cup batter onto the hot waffle iron (it will expand as it cooks, so don't overdo it!)
  5. Sprinkle chocolate chips across the batter in the waffle iron, and then close the iron and let the waffle cook.
  6. Cook for about 5 minutes, or until the waffle is golden.
  7. Spread with peanut butter (or not) and top with syrup or whatever other toppings you desire.

Recipe Notes

You can mix the chocolate chips into the batter, but it's difficult to get an even amount into each waffle, so I find that sprinkling the chocolate chips works better.
The original recipe says it makes six 7-inch round waffles using 2/3 cups batter, but I am only able to use barely 1/2 cup of batter, so I get 8-9 waffles instead.
