Simple Fall Decor
Simple Fall Decor - Change your decor for fall in an easy, simple, but beautiful way!

Several years ago when my husband and I bought our first house, I thought it would be fun to frame a leaf from each of the trees we planted in our new yard. My mom saw them and asked if I would make a set of frames with leaves in them for her. I thought I would share them with you, since they are such an easy way to create some simple fall decor.
I bought these awesome wood frames at the dollar store. They didn't have glass or backs, just the frame, so I also bought some ugly frames at the dollar store to steal the glass and backs out of. So altogether, that cost $8. I used leaves that I had found randomly and pressed because I thought they were pretty leaves. So those cost nothing.
The spool of ribbon was also from the dollar store, and I used several sheets of scrapbook paper (the paper I had on hand, but for the sake of a project estimate, we will give them a value of $2). Then I bought cabinet knobs to hang them from, for around $1 each.
And finally, I bought wood to metal double-ended screws in order to screw the cabinet knobs into the wall. Something similar to this, but it will depend on the size of the knob for what size screw you would need. So the project total was less than $20.
This was a simple project. Simply cut the paper to the size of the frame. Then put the leaf between the paper and the glass and put the back on. Using hot glue, glue the ribbon to the back of the frame.
Now pre-drill 4 holes smaller than the size of the screws at the places you want your pictures to hang. Take the screw that came with the knob out and replace it with the metal to wood screw, putting the flat (or machined) end into the knob, and screwing the pointy (or wood) end into the wall. Hang your pictures up, and ta-da! You have a fall-inspired wall!

So simple and pretty and I could work on it with the kids around. This is something they could easily help with.
Jennifer, you made me laugh- my crafts have definitely changed with little ones around. No more scrapbooking, since it's just too enticing for the little ones to get into. I rarely crochet, since the kids have pulled out my work more than once. This is about as crafty as it gets with little ones around!
I am stopping over from Dial Moms Mondays Linky Party and had to check out your leaf prints. I once wrote "simple is perfection," because sometimes adding too much glitz and bangles will take away from the beauty that an object already is endowed with. You can't get much better than fall leaves. Just as no two are alike, your project stands out as one of the best for me!--Deb
Thanks, Deb! I prefer simple, and I'm thankful for your kind words!
Easy, I love it! I wish I had some wall space. Maybe Ill put them on my mantel.
What a super cute and inexpensive idea for fall decorating! Pinned while I was here tonight & thanks for sharing 🙂

What beautiful fall decor. My daughter has been picking up fall leaves, I just need to get some frames.
I love how simple this is! Sometimes I feel like I have to go over the top on things but I think this is awesome and something that would be fun to make. Thanks for sharing!
Love this! Such a simple project, yet really pretty. I also love the sentiment of leaves from your trees. Such a sweet idea! I'm stopping by Daily Blog Boost, and I have pinned this.
Thanks! It is definitely sentimental- we planted our trees at the first house we owned, as anniversary presents 🙂
