Craft Project Organization

I am horrible about starting projects and then moving on to new projects halfway through.  I know I can't be alone in this, right?  The problem is that sometimes when I finally get back to a project, I can't find all of the supplies for it, or I no longer remember what the pattern was.  This is why I implemented this simple and inexpensive craft project organization system.

Now when I start working on a project, I grab a plastic 6 quart storage container (the size of a standard shoebox) and put any pattern, supplies, fabric, and accessories into it.  Just for the record, the price of these containers on Amazon is expensive-- I'm simply linking to it so you can see what I'm talking about.  These are carried by most dollar stores, or they typically go on sale for $1 each on a regular basis.

I've currently got a craft project organization started for quilt squares from scrap fabric.  I've got another containing The Liberty Dress, a 4th of July dress pattern that I started 2 years ago (terrible, right?  Hopefully Baby Girl will grow into it by the time I finish it!).  Another container has a baby boot pattern that I'm working on creating and hope to share with you all soon.  And finally, the last box has granny squares in it that I hope to someday turn into a granny square sampler quilt (but sheesh, it takes a lot of granny squares to make a quilt!).

I use washi tape and a permanent marker to label the containers, which works really well.  The washi tape pulls off easily for when I {finally} finish the project and I'm ready to put a new project in its place.

I love this new system-- it has saved me so much time in trying to figure out what I was doing, where my supplies are, and just in giving me the ability to pick back up right where I left off.  I also like that the containers are clear so I can see into them, and that they stack easily to fit on a shelf.

How do you organize your craft projects?  I'd love to hear what works best for you!
