Create edible art for your kids with these fabulous products, while earning Bonus Box Tops™ for your favorite school!
Our summer has flown by! Between the family get-togethers, swimming, camping, bike riding, and all the other fun summer events, I feel like our relaxed schedule turned into a hectic mess! Previously, I’ve loved doing crafts with my kids, but we didn’t do any this summer, and with fall around the corner, it was time to remedy the situation.
When deciding on a craft to do, I wanted it to be a big success. And for my kids, snacks are always a huge hit, so I decided to combine a snack with a craft!
Edible Art is a fun craft for kids! If your kids are very little, you can make it for them and just let them pick the colors and such. If they are bigger, enlist their help! My 4 and 5 year old were able to peel Fruit Roll-ups™, use the cookie cutters to cut out shapes, and decorate their finished projects.
For some of the edible art creations, we used cookie cutters. But there were shapes my kids wanted to make that I didn’t have a cookie cutter for, so for those I used a butter knife and cut the shapes. If your child is probably 6 or older, they can most likely cut out their own shapes with a butter knife.
I would recommend removing the Fruit Roll-Ups™ from their packaging, and rolling them out on wax paper to work. This way you can easily remove your creations to eat them!
The kids used cookie cutters to make the flowers, and decorated them with Cheerios™ and Fruit Gushers™. They used two different sized flower cookie cutters, as well as a leaf cutter.
Little Man wanted a car, since the flowers were a bit too girly for him (though it didn’t stop him from eating them). I used a butter knife to cut out the car shape, and he used Cheerios™ to make the wheels.
Miss Magoo wanted an owl. I was sad that the pictures just didn’t do this justice, as the yellow is a bit hard to see, but it turned out really cute. I cut out a circle for the body. Then I cut a yellow Fruit Roll-Up™ into triangles, and she used one for the beak, layered them on the chest, and used them for feet. She wanted her owl to sit on a branch, so we used the Green Apple flavor as a branch.
We had such fun with this craft, and when the kids were finished it was snack time! And the best part of it was that all of the items we used included Bonus Box Tops™! Walmart is currently offering a Bonus 5 Box Tops™ on select General Mills® products.
The Bonus Box Tops™ mean that the products come with 5 Box Tops each! So make sure and look for the specially marked boxes at Walmart and donate them to your favorite school!
