Patriotic Wreath

I wanted to make a wreath for the 4th of July, since I just like having fun wreaths on our door. I found this adorable tutorial from Cat’s Craft Room, and decided to give it a go.  So here’s my Patriotic Wreath.

Cat’s tutorial is great, and makes it so easy to make a patriotic wreath! The only thing I would caution is that you should clip your clothespins into a section of the wreath frame first to see how many will fit.  My frame must have been a different size than hers, or else my clothespins were a different size, because I had to really wrangle those pins in to fit 11- I have no idea how she got 15 in each space!

So because the clothespin to wreath ratio may be different, you might find that you need to paint more or less clothespins to make yours work.

I also did groupings of 3 of each color, instead of her 5, and I staggered them by putting the first clip over the bottom 2 wires, and the next clip over just the 2nd wire (see pictures to see what I mean).

Patriotic Wreath detailSorry that the picture color on the close-ups is terrible! Of course I was working on this at 10 last night, when the lighting is terrible.  I always swear I’m going to do better about planning blogs and writing them ahead of time, but I find myself working on them at the last minute pretty regularly.  I would love advice on how to break this habit, if any of you have some!

Here’s another picture so you can see what the actual coloring is like.  It’s an antique white, a burgundy, and a deep blue.

I used some star brads I had in my scrapbooking supplies, since I doubt they will ever get used for any actual scrapbooking.  I painted the surface with the same antique white, and then I hot glued them in place.  I loved that since they were brads, I was able to use the posts to glue them into place between the clothespins.

Patriotic WreathI just love how this Patriotic Wreath turned out!

Do you decorate for holidays?  If so, what kinds of decorations do you like?

How very clever. I am definitely going to try that. Hubby is very patriotic or should I say we're just a very patriotic household for sure. I even have a little Uncle Sam outside. ~hehehe~ Have a fun & safe celebration of our Memorial Day!
