Summer Snacks On-the-Go

Summer Snacks On-the-Go

I don't know why I thought life would slow down once summer came, but for some reason I had that in my head! And now that it's halfway through June, and the first half of the month flew by, I'm feeling like the summer is even busier than the school year! If you're like me, and you've spent hours in the car going from one event to another, you're going to love this DIY summer snacks on-the-go survival box!

Being prepared really gives me peace of mind, and the summer snacks on-the-go survival box helps take the worry away.  I don't need to worry that we've forgotten something, as all the "must haves" are taken care of!

Summer Snacks On-the-Go Contents

I started with snacks, because my kids don't do well when they get hungry (I think they inherited that from this mama).  I filled the box with small containers full of our favorite treats.  I tried to keep in mind the fact that the treats would be in the car-- so nothing that melts or needs to be refrigerated.

For us, the snacks include things like nuts (my family loves cashews, pecans, walnuts, peanuts, and pistachios), dried fruit, trail mix and other snack mixes, and a treat: new OREO 2-packs

New Oreo 2-Count Packs

These new OREO 2-count packs are perfect: they are just the right amount for a satisfying snack, without having to worry about over-indulging!  And I love that OREO 2-count packages come in a box with 18 packages, so I can keep the whole family supplied, and resupply our summer snacks on-the-go survival box!

If you have kids in sports or activities where you need to bring them a treat, OREO 2-packs are perfect!  Just grab a box, and dole them out-- each child gets a delicious treat in their own packaging, and there's no fighting over who got more!  They are just so convenient!

In our survival box, I also include a clean pair of clothing for each child (complete with clean underwear).  I know I'm not the only one who has kids that feel the need to jump in creeks, roll in the mud, and make a mess of themselves at picnic, on hikes, and at events.  Having an extra change of clothing in a reusable bag has saved us many times!

What to include in your Summer Snacks On-the-Go Survival Box

Finally, I pack extra diapers and wipes in our survival box, along with disposable changing mats and little baggies to throw away nasty diapers. You never know when an accident is going to happen, and it always helps to be prepared.

So grab an OREO 2-count package and a cup of coffee, and get ready to make your own Summer Snacks On-the-Go Survival pack!

    1. I find that if I don't prepare, I do the same. So we waste money, and also don't snack very healthily.

  1. I need these little snack packs, might help me exercise some portion control when around Oreos

  2. Great idea. I spend all school year waiting for summer to slow down to find myself even busier too. It's just more bearable because it's in the sunshine! These oreo to go boxes are perfect thing for car ride between activities!

    1. You're so right that the sunshine definitely does make it better! And usually the busyness is fun stuff!

    1. My kids think it's the best! I only let them eat these snacks in the car, or when we're away from home, so it's got that exciting feeling to it!

  3. Mmm Oreos. Love that box! The snack ideas remind me of what comes in Graze boxes, especially the banana bits.

  4. Love Oreos and I agree the two-packers are convenient. And, you won't eat the whole package.

    1. Exactly! I will admit I've overindulged before (it's so hard to stop!), but the 2-packs have really changed that for me!

  5. We have a survival kit in our car that includes snacks too!! I am excited to add Oreos in that box!! Great post!

    1. It has really been helpful for our family to have one. I was getting so tired of everyone getting in the car and halfway to our destination only to hear the kids start whining that they're hungry. No more! 🙂

  6. Love the list of snack ideas because I'm always looking for new suggestions! And I love the idea of a 2-pack of oreos because if you give me a whole package I have ZERO self control!

    1. Self control definitely isn't my strong suit either, Julie! The 2-packs have been so helpful for portion control for me!

  7. Oreos are real popular at our house. I love how they come 2 to a pack so that I don't overindulge. Now I want an Oreo!
