For our homeschool preschool co-op, my friend Anna brought this fun and easy idea of making paper heart garland. She got the idea from Pinterest, but I have no idea what the source was. I thought I’d share it today, since Miss Magoo had a blast with this. When I asked her what her favorite activity we did at the co-op was, she referred to this project, “Because I love God so much.”
For this project you need some paper strips from construction paper or scrapbook paper- thicker (such as card stock) works a bit better. They can be as long or as short as you want, but the ones we used were approximately 9 inches by 1 inch.
You can hang strands of the garland, or you can make a heart wreath, which is what Miss Magoo and I decided to do. To do this, make your garland long enough to create a circle. Pull the very first staple out, and insert the end of the last heart into the crease of the first heart, and re-staple.
Ta-da! In about 15 minutes you can have a lovely wreath!
When Miss Magoo and I continued our garland and made a wreath, I read her several passages from 1 John 4, and we memorized another verse, 1 John 4:19, which says, “We love because He first loved us.” (NIV)
