I used to be a big user of non dairy coffee creamer. I like a little coffee with my creamer. And I like my creamer flavored and sweet. But not long after I got married, a friend shared with The Hardworking Husband and I how bad the creamer is. It is full of chemicals. The only real food in it is water and sugar (if you consider sugar real food). And The Hardworking Husband told me I couldn’t use my beloved creamer anymore. He’s pretty laid back and okay with eating lots of things that are bad for you. So when he tells me I can’t eat something I listen. And by the way, the creamer is the only thing he’s told me I can’t have.
I started buying a dairy creamer that is only half & half, flavor & sugar. But I’ve found it can be pretty expensive especially with how much I use. So I have figured out how to make my own. Half & half is pretty inexpensive. And it is much better for you since it is real food.
DIY Coffee Creamer

Ingredients
- 1 quart half & half
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 Tbsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Pour 2 cups half & half and sugar in a small sauce pan.
- Heat on medium low until sugar is dissolved.
- Pour the other 2 cups half & half in a bowl with vanilla extract.
- Add heated half & half to the other half & half. Stir to combine.
- Pour into a quart jar to store in refrigerator.
Notes
Make just over a quart. You may want to adjust the sugar to your taste. I like a little more. You can use flavored syrups to change the flavor.

I can't wait to try this! My hubby is a big fan of liquid creamer. I'm thinking of other flavor additions!

There are so many possibilities for flavors. You could even add one of the flavored syrups.

I tend to use a lot of creamer in a cup of coffee and that means a lot of chemicals. It's great to have an alternative!
