Paper Heart Garland Wreath: Quick and Easy

For our homeschool preschool co-op, my friend Anna brought this fun and easy idea of making paper heart garland. She got the idea from Pinterest, but I have no idea what the source was. I thought I'd share it today, since Miss Magoo had a blast with this. When I asked her what her favorite activity we did at the co-op was, she referred to this project, "Because I love God so much."
For this project you need some paper strips from construction paper or scrapbook paper- thicker (such as card stock) works a bit better. They can be as long or as short as you want, but the ones we used were approximately 9 inches by 1 inch.
Fold one strip of paper in half and crease it.

Staple the creased end of the strip.

Separate the 2 ends and bring them around to the bottom.

Fold another strip in half and crease it.

Open up the second strip into a V shape, and have it "hug" the heart.

Staple the bottom of the V, and then bring the two ends down again, creating another heart. Continue in this manner until your garland is as long as you would like.

You can hang strands of the garland, or you can make a heart wreath, which is what Miss Magoo and I decided to do. To do this, make your garland long enough to create a circle. Pull the very first staple out, and insert the end of the last heart into the crease of the first heart, and re-staple.

Ta-da! In about 15 minutes you can have a lovely wreath!
For the homeschool co-op, we taught the kids John 13: 34, which says, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." (NIV)
When Miss Magoo and I continued our garland and made a wreath, I read her several passages from 1 John 4, and we memorized another verse, 1 John 4:19, which says, "We love because He first loved us." (NIV)
