Whole Wheat Pancake Mix
Mix up this whole wheat pancake mix so you can make pancakes quick!
My kids love pancakes, or as Little Man calls them "cancakes" or "panpakes". For some reason, he can never get that one right! Because we eat so many pancakes, I decided I needed to find a recipe for Whole Wheat Pancake Mix.
I have to admit that I'm not much of a morning person, so cooking from scratch doesn't usually happen at breakfast. But I really don't want to have to use store bought pancake mix, because I just don't like feeding my family a bunch of processed foods. Plus, we prefer whole wheat pancakes, and the whole wheat pancake mix is a bit spendy!
I've tried out a few different recipe for making my own whole wheat pancake mix, but this one from Today's Mama is my favorite! I made the pancakes from the mix by just adding water, and they are great tasting pancakes!

These sound good! I love that I can make them and keep the mix for a few days! Thanks! And thank you for stopping by my blog. I love The Saturday Dishes!
2 cups mix, 1 2/3 cups water, 2 Tbsp oil or melted butter.
Cook as you usually cook pancakes.
How many does this make? I only have 2 people in the house.
I would say about 10 pancakes, but it'll depend on the size of your pancakes.
If you don't want to make too many pancakes, you can always use a smaller amount of mix and add water to the consistency you like. I usually make just dump out some mix and add water to the consistency I like, and don't actually measure anything.
Another idea (that I also do) is to freeze extra pancakes to save time on a morning you don't have extra time. Hope that helps!
Thank you, that gives me some place to start.
This will work a treat for me. I'm a transplanted Canadian living in England where pancake mix is almost an unknown. What little is available through the ex-pat stores is silly money. Thank you for posting this!
So glad it will help you out, Ali!
Thanks Jamie, this sounds great! Thanks for researching and finding a good recipe- I am pinning this, and hope to try it soon!
Thanks for pinning, Joy! I hope you'll let me know how you like it!
This is such a smart idea! I love pancakes but I only like homemade... this seems easy and way cheaper than store-bought!
It's definitely cheaper, and just so much easier than completely from scratch in the morning. I'm not good for much until my coffee kicks in 🙂
Wow, this recipe sounds so easy. I finally can have a whole wheat pancake at home.
I know! The mix is SO easy to make, and the pancakes still taste good. I was so excited to find it!
These pancakes with some peanut butter syrup would be fabulous!
Jenne, the kids and I like pancakes with peanut butter and syrup, but I've never heard of peanut butter syrup- I would love your recipe!
Do you know how long you could keep this for?
I know for sure it lasts well for a month, since that's about how long it takes us to go through a batch. If you want it to last longer, I would suggest keeping it in an air tight container, and maybe even try putting it in the refrigerator. Hope that helps!
It's so easy to make this stuff. I love having it ready to go and made with ingredients I trust.
I agree on wanting ingredients I know and trust, and this recipe is so simple I had it put together in maybe 10 minutes!
Great idea! I love having it made ahead and ready to go...just like the store bought brands. Pinning. Have a great week
I've tried a few, and most require adding eggs and milk, but I love that this one just has water, so it's just like the store brands 🙂
