Every year, going into the holiday season I have great resolve. This year I will eat healthier. This year I won’t eat so much turkey and stuffing that I feel like a stuffed turkey. This year I will eat apples instead of fudge. This year I won’t eat the entire plate of goodies the neighbor brought by. But maybe, like you, this year comes and goes, and I did stuff myself at Thanksgiving, and I did eat all the fudge and then some. I’ve tried to figure out why I can never make it work better, and this year I’ve come up with a better plan: NatureBox.
You see, I think the main problem I have is that I’m trying to deny myself anything tasty at all. It’s an all or nothing sort of thing, so when I (inevitably) get off the healthy bandwagon, I figure I’ve already screwed it all up, so why keep trying. Do you feel that way sometimes?
So this year, I’m trying something different. Instead of swearing off snacking and indulgence, I’m seeking out a healthy snacking option that feels like indulgence.
I got the opportunity to try out a NatureBox, and I have to say I was really impressed! They offer 100+ snacks to try, and some of them seem quite indulgent! I loved that they offered a great selection of sweet, salty, spicy- anything you could want! Plus many of the 100+ snacks offered can fit certain dietary needs! You can check out their catalog to see for yourself the great variety of delicious (and nutritious) snacks available.
I have to tell you that one of my favorite parts of receiving a NatureBox was getting a package in the mail! In this day where snail mail is practically obsolete, it was so exciting to get a package filled with goodies!
To be honest, I didn’t have high hopes for what I would receive. I think we’ve all had that “healthy” food that tastes like you’re snacking on cardboard, right? Well when the mailman brought me my NatureBox and I opened it, I was so surprised! These were flavorful, filling snacks that I truly enjoyed. And it’s even better knowing that each snack contains wholesome ingredients – with no artificial sweeteners, flavors or colors, zero grams trans fats, and no high fructose corn syrup. I think that’s pretty awesome.
The 5 snacks I picked out from NatureBox were Strawberry Crispy Chews, Dark Cocoa Nom Noms, Whole Wheat Raspberry Figgy Bars, Cashew Crumble, and Cinnamon Spiced Almonds.
I liked every one of these, but the Dark Cocoa Nom Noms were amazing (I can picture myself ordering an entire NatureBox full of just these!). They are similar to no-bake cookies, but dark chocolate and not so sweet. Even my husband (who is a chocoholic) liked the Dark Cocoa Nom Noms. I also really liked the Cashew Crumble, which is basically cashews in a cookie, but all crumbled up- yum.
When choosing the selection, a lot of the salty or spicy snacks offered by NatureBox sounded good, but I tried to be realistic and think about what types of food tempt me the most during the holidays. So I went with a sweeter selection, since I feel like the sweets during the holidays are what really get me.
