Recipe Challenge {Challenging Yet Fun Goals for the Year}
This year I wanted to have a fun New Year's resolution. I have done the normal resolutions in the past - saving money, losing weight, keeping the house clean, etc. But I always tend to fail. This year I thought I'd set some that were challenging yet fun.

I love to cook and bake, but there are certain foods that seem hard to make and even a little scary. So I decided to tackle 12 of those foods this year. Sort of a recipe challenge!
One a month. In January, I took on pasta. It ended up being a lot easier than I tho
ught until I broke the fettuccine maker. But the pasta turned out great and I will be making more in the future. My sister, Lucy, wants me to try ravioli. You can read about my adventures in pasta making here.
For February, I will be making mozzarella. I think need to get started early this month. I waited until the end of the month with the pasta. I'm afraid mozzarella is going to be harder and I may need time to try again.
I haven't decided what I'm going to make for March. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Or does anyone have any tips for me for making mozzarella?

Love your idea of a new challenge each month. I have been tempted to do a similar thing for a few years now. Only with me there are a few things I would like to make from scratch, like marshmallows and biscuits, that I would like to successfully cook. Oh, know it sounds dumb, but cooking pancakes is also on that list. Maybe I will do a DIY or MYO year long challenge of the things I would like to try. Thanks for the inspiration. I commented on your pasta posting. I am remodeling my kitchen, the next few months will see it completely torn out, redesigned and rebuilt. The ambitious goal is to have the cabinets and countertops installed and useable by Dec. 31. All hinges on when cabinets actually arrive and when we are able to get counter tops ordered (which can't be done until the cabinets are installed, which can't be done until they arrive).
You are brave. I know I would feel discombobulated without a kitchen. I have thought about trying marshmallows. I should put that in the list. It would be interesting to see how homemade marshmallows roast over the fire. I am enjoying my challenge. I already have enough goals to take me through June.
