Olympic Rings Cookies
Olympic Rings Cookies are a fun snack to munch on while you watch the Olympics!

In case, you didn't know the Sochi Winter Olympic start this week. We are big Olympic fans around here. I love watching all the events and so do my kids. I also love cookies. So today I'm combining the two!!
When thinking about the Olympics, my mind went instantly to the Olympic rings and I thought it would be fun to make Olympic rings cookies.
I used cake mix cookies (recipe below) for these because of the ease of mixing them and cut out sugar cookies and I don't normally get along. But I'm sure you could use a sugar cookie dough for these too. I used a white cake mix and a chocolate cake mix.
Olympic Rings Cookies:
Mix up your cookie dough. Divide the white cookie dough in half, set half aside and divide the other half into four section. Add a few drops of food coloring (red, green, yellow, and blue) to each of the sections.
Pinch off a little white cookie dough and roll in between your hand. Take the long rope and form into a circle. Take a little of one of the coloring and do the same thing, placing it inside of the white. Pinch of small piece of white and fill in the center.

Use the chocolate mix for your black rings. After I had made several rings of every color, I made some regular cookies in every color. Of course, there was lots of chocolate cookie mix left over, so we made lots of those. Not that we minded!
Bake according to cake mix cookie recipe.
After I was all done baking, I had the thought that you could also make the cookie rings without the white cookie around it. But we already had so many cookies, I didn't test it out.
Tip: If you press your ropes together a little when you assemble your cookie and make sure to bake them all the way, they are less likely to fall apart.

Thanks Amy!! So glad you liked them!!
These sound very simple. When I looked at them, I didn't think you made them the way you described, so I guess you could go about it in different ways. Regardless, they are yummy and appropriate for the Olympics! Thanks for linking up to the Olympics Link Up! Be sure to stop on by again in the weeks to come!
I had originally tried to use cookie cutters to make the rings but I didn't have small enough circular cookies cutter so I used this way instead. I'm sure you could do it other ways but this is the way it worked best for me.

We don't have a way to watch the Olympics at home, but I'm hoping we can watch with friends. These cookies are so fun! And cake mix makes them simple!
I hope you find a way to watch some Olympics! The cake mix really does make it pretty fast but they still taste great and are fun!
