Vintage Recipes

Vintage Recipes

After moving and unpacking most of the boxes, I found some cookbooks that used to be my grandmothers.  I started flipping through them and found that some of the recipes were marked.  I'm not sure if my grandmother marked them or someone else.  But I thought it would be fun to try out these recipes that someone thought were good enough to say they were great.  As I started to write down the recipes, I realized I had bunch.  And I realized these vintage recipes would make a great series.  So I am beginning a new series that I will post recipes off and on as I have time with the other 3 series I'm doing (Outside the Box Mondays, Recipe Challenge & Monthly Menus).

Vintage Recipes:

Stew Meat Beef Stroganoff

Braised Short Ribs of Beef with Vegetables

Quick & Easy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Grandma's Potato Salad

Favy Taters

Homemade Snickers

Cheese Ball

World's Best Sugar Cookies

Strawberry Muffins

Zucchini Bars

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

Frog Eye Salad

Come back often to see what other vintage recipes I'm trying.

  8. I love, love, love vintage recipes. I have my moms and both my grandmothers. And a few years ago I found a stack of notecards in a "junk" store full of very old recipes. I love that stuff.

  9. I can't wait to read these! I have old recipe books from my grandma, and it's so interesting to read them. Unfortunately, the one I want the most is the one I can't find! 🙂

    1. Don't you hate that! I have made a strawberry cake that was a vintage recipe and I don't have it anymore. I have searched high and low. It drives me nuts.

  10. I am looking forward to seeing how the recipes turn out! We inherited my husband's grandmother's recipe box and most all of the cards have ingredients without any instructions. It has been a blast trying to figure out how they are supposed to be made!

    1. That sounds like a fun adventure. A project right up my alley! It sounds like a blast. Some of those vintage recipes are a challenge even with directions.
